Challenge
Bell Canada’s data analytics team was responsible for delivering dashboards and insights to senior executives. While the team was technically strong, they needed new approaches to ensure that dashboards communicated clearly, supported decision-making, and aligned with executive needs.
Objective
To provide Bell’s analytics team with hands-on training in user experience (UX) principles, while directly applying these methods to live business challenges. The goal was to create lasting internal capabilities for designing dashboards that were clear, engaging, and actionable.
Outcome
Through OCAD Co., I was engaged to design and deliver a week-long UX training program. The program combined:
- 2 days of theory: covering core UX principles, design thinking, and dashboard usability best practices.
- 3 days of applied project work: participants selected an active business challenge, rapidly prototyped improved dashboard solutions, and presented their work back to the organization for feedback.
This project-based learning ensured participants moved from concepts to immediate practice.

Impact
Senior leadership later confirmed that the frameworks and methods introduced during the training were integrated into mainstream practices and continued to be used years after the program. The initiative not only improved dashboard quality but also instilled a culture of UX-informed decision support within the analytics team.
