Challenge
Navigating separation or divorce without legal representation can be overwhelming. The Ryerson Legal Innovation Zone set out to create a digital tool to help self-represented individuals in Ontario understand their rights and options more clearly.
Objective
I worked with the Legal Innovation Zone and its partner organizations to lead UX research and design efforts for the Family Law Portal. Our goal was to turn complex legal processes into a clear, step-by-step experience that balanced empathy, accuracy, and usability.
Outcome
The Family Law Portal launched in 2019 and remains a trusted, free resource for Ontarians navigating family law issues—supporting decisions around parenting, safety, support, and property division.
